The Cate Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granada Hills Charter took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Cate, who comes in off a win.
While Cate's win against West Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Mustangs on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for the Rams, who have now won three contests in a row.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Cate who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 21-25, 17-15.
Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Granada Hills Charter can now relate to. They fell 3-1 to the Dolphins two weeks ago. While the Highlanders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dolphins 25-19 in the first set.
Granada Hills Charter started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-17.
Cate's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Granada Hills Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 26-19.
Cate couldn't quite get it done against Granada Hills Charter in their previous meeting back in August of 2021 as they fell 2-0. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
