Basketball Game Preview: Wakpala Sioux vs. Oelrichs Tigers

Wakpala and Oelrichs are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Wakpala Sioux will head out on the road to square off against the Oelrichs Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Wakpala is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against St. Francis Indian on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Wakpala came up short against St. Francis Indian, falling 49-29. The matchup marked the Sioux's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Oelrichs lost 65-40 to Hay Springs last Monday. The Tigers have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Wakpala's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Oelrichs, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Wakpala was able to grind out a solid victory over Oelrichs in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 57-50. Does Wakpala have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oelrichs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
