Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Whitharral's 11th in Last 12 Outings

Whitharral had won three straight home games and Paige Smith did her part to make it four on Tuesday. The Whitharral Panthers blew past the Amherst Bulldogs, posting a 73-14 victory thanks in part to Smith, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 35 points and six rebounds. That makes it 23 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Whitharral's points.

Elizabeth Reyna was another key player, putting up two points along with seven boards, five assists, and three steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists.

Whitharral is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Amherst, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-19.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitharral will take on Meadow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitharral knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Meadow likes a good challenge. Amherst has already played their next match (against Wellman-Union), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
