Recap: Eldon Mustangs vs. Boonville Pirates
The Eldon Mustangs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. The match between Eldon and Boonville wasn't particularly close, with Eldon falling 56-41. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (33), Eldon still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Eldon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Hunter Hees. Despite the final result, he threw for 300 yards and five touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Devin Hardy was another key contributor, picking up 103 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Boonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dakota Troost led the charge by rushing for 153 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Bishop, who threw for 164 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.
Eldon's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. As for Boonville, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.
