Softball Recap: Gladstone Triumphs

Gladstone had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Madras on Monday. The Gladiators never let the White Buffalos get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. With that victory, the Gladiators brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Ashlynne Franssen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashley Phillips, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Natalee Marvin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Gladstone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Gladstone now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Madras, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Gladstone will have a chance to go back-to-back against the White Buffalos: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
