Basketball Recap: Miller Place Panthers vs. Wyandanch Warriors
The Miller Place Panthers had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 48-42 victory over Wyandanch on Monday. The win was just what Miller Place needed coming off of a 56-35 defeat in their prior matchup.
Leading Miller Place to victory were Ava Zicchinelli and Julie Orenzo. Zicchinelli scored 14 points, while Orenzo scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Orenzo has scored all season.
Miller Place's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Wyandanch, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miller Place won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Golden Flashes at 4:45 p.m. on February 6th. Sayville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Panthers in New York (the Golden Flashes are ranked 164th, while the Panthers are ranked 525th). As for Wyandanch, they will head out on the road to face off against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
