Basketball Game Preview: Morgan Trojans vs. Grantsville Cowboys

The Morgan Trojans will face off against the Grantsville Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Morgan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Grantsville likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, everything went Morgan's way against Ogden as Morgan made off with a 61-38 win.

Morgan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eva Birkeland led the charge by going 8 for 19 en route to 20 points. The match was Birkeland's 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Rockenfield, who posted two points along with 11 rebounds and six steals.

Meanwhile, Grantsville unfortunately witnessed the end of their 19-game winning streak dating back to last season on Monday. They were dealt a 67-34 defeat at the hands of Ridgeline. The contest marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Morgan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Grantsville, their loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-1.

Morgan lost to Grantsville at home by a decisive 72-58 margin in their previous meeting on January 9th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Grantsville's Baylee Lowder, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 boards.
