Basketball Recap: Bertrand Sets Scoring Season-High Against Medicine Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bertrand). They enjoyed a cozy 80-65 victory over the Medicine Valley Raiders on Friday. The win almost wasn't to be: the Vikings were down 43-23 in the second quarter.

Bertrand was led to victory by Marcus Hernandez and Thunder Nelson. Hernandez went 11 of 17 to rack up 28 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards, while Nelson dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hernandez has scored at least a third of Bertrand's points. Another player making a difference was Kayden Hatfield, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Bertrand's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points over those games. As for Medicine Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9.

Coming up, Bertrand will look to defend their home court on February 14th against Arapahoe at 7:30 p.m. As for Medicine Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Maxwell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
