Baseball Game Preview: Pekin Dragons vs. Richwoods Knights

The Pekin Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the Richwoods Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Pekin has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 5th.

Pekin fell victim to East Peoria and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders.

Meanwhile, Richwoods hadn't done well against Galesburg recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Knights narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Silver Streaks 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since April 23rd.

Richwoods pushed their record up to 19-11 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Pekin, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-23.

Everything went Pekin's way against Richwoods in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Pekin made off with a 15-7 victory. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
