Softball Game Preview: Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers vs. Hilbert Wolves

The Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers will take on the Hilbert Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Manitowoc Lutheran is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since April 10, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Sheboygan Falls 5-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hilbert). They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Cedar Grove-Belgium on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wolves needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Hilbert's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Manitowoc Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.

Manitowoc Lutheran might still be hurting after the 14-2 loss they got from Hilbert in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
