Football Recap: Mount Paran Christian Drops Highest Score of Season Against Washington-Wilkes

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mount Paran Christian). They came out on top against the Washington-Wilkes Tigers by a score of 40-32 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mayson Mingle, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 150 yards and one TD. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 60 yards. Washington-Wilkes also got a significant boost from Dre'Vioun Davis, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 136 yards.

Mount Paran Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Washington-Wilkes, their record is now 2-4.

Mount Paran Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 55-0 loss against Whitefield Academy on the 26th. As for Washington-Wilkes, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake Oconee Academy at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. This will be the Tigers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
