Baseball Recap: Mountain Ridge Starts Season with Win Against Hancock

Mountain Ridge had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Hancock Panthers with a sharp 12-4 victory on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Miners as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Mountain Ridge got a massive performance out of John Wood, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brody Vanmeter, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Looking ahead, Mountain Ridge will face off against Fort Hill at 11:00 a.m. on March 22nd. As for Hancock, they have already played their next matchup, a 6-5 defeat against Shanksville Stonycreek on the 17th.
