Basketball Recap: Maleah Rager's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ravenna over Cambridge

Ravenna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. Their2024 ended with a 47-30 defeat against the Cambridge Trojans. The Bluejays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Ravenna lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Maleah Rager, who posted seven points and three steals. Rager continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellie Huryta, who had nine points and four steals.

Ravenna's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Cambridge, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Ravenna and Cambridge could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Ravenna (ranked 235th) will meet Shelton (ranked 41st) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cambridge (ranked 217th) will meet Maywood/Hayes Center (ranked 23rd) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
