The Southwood Knights will challenge the Adams Central Flying Jets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Southwood is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Southwood is returning to their home field after beating Wabash on theirs, despite the fact Wabash has dominated at home this season. The Knights blew past the Apaches 17-6 on Friday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Apaches recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Natalie Sutphin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Izzy Ashba was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Gracie Lambert, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Southwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Adams Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Carroll, falling 15-4.
Southwood pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Adams Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
Southwood's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's match. The Knights have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Adams Central, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Southwood continue to outrun the ball?
Southwood took their win against Adams Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flying Jets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
