Volleyball Recap: Elkin Comes Up Short

Elkin extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-14. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the East Wilkes Cardinals. The Buckin' Elks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

As for East Wilkes, the victory snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 6-15 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since August 28th.

Gracelynn Whitt was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 20 digs and four assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played. Marissa Gambill also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Elkin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Alleghany on the 9th. As for East Wilkes, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Wilkes Central on the 9th.
