Baseball Game Preview: Evergreen Valley Cougars vs. Wilcox Chargers

The Evergreen Valley Cougars will head out to face off against the Wilcox Chargers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when Evergreen Valley challenged Prospect on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Panthers.

The team relied heavily on Tristan Ho, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Wilcox came tearing into Friday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Mustangs.

Wilcox's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Evergreen Valley, their record is now 10-12.

Evergreen Valley came up short against Wilcox in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
