Baseball Game Preview: Morgan Park Mustangs vs. Simeon Wolverines

For the second straight game, Morgan Park will face off against Simeon. The Mustangs will face off against the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Morgan Park blew Simeon out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Simeon got their revenge. The Mustangs fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered against the Wolverines since May 4, 2022.

For Simeon's part, Antonio Porterfield tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. The Wolverines are 4-1 when Porterfield allows three or fewer earned runs, but 8-9-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cavion Danley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwan Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Simeon pushed their record up to 12-10-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Morgan Park, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8-2.
