Softball Preview: Gunderson Grizzlies vs. San Jose Bulldogs        
        
		
            
 Gunderson is 9-1 against San Jose since April of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Friday. The Gunderson Grizzlies will head out on the road to  take on  the San Jose Bulldogs at 4:00  p.m. Gunderson is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 19.8  runs per game this season.
 On Wednesday, Gunderson fell victim to a  tough 11-4 loss at the hands of Del Mar. It was the first time  this season that Gunderson let down their fans at home.
  Alanna Martinez Poklong was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she  struck out eight batters over  seven innings while giving up  five earned  (and six unearned) runs off   four  hits. Martinez Poklong has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts every time she's  pitched this season. Martinez Poklong was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
 Martinez Poklong wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Jaelyn Vejar, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
 Meanwhile,  the matchup between San Jose and James Lick  last Wednesday hardly resembled the  0-0 effort from their previous meeting. San Jose blew past James Lick 19-8. The  victory was just what San Jose needed coming off of  a  15-6 defeat in their prior  game.
 Gunderson's loss  ended  an  eight-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 5-2. As for San Jose, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
 Gunderson came out on top in a nail-biter against San Jose  in their previous meeting  back in May of 2023, sneaking past  1-0. Does  Gunderson have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Jose turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
