Baseball Game Preview: Green Valley Gators vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

The Green Valley Gators will face off against the Mira Mesa Marauders at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Green Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Green Valley picked up another tournament win on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Westview. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Grant Morris looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caden Kirby, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Mira Mesa didn't have quite enough to beat Otay Ranch on Wednesday and fell 4-3. The Marauders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dylan Pham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. Those hits were his first of the season.

At the plate, Mira Mesa saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ziggy Avinion, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Aaron Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Mira Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Green Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
