Basketball Recap: Prince George Takes a Loss

Prince George was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against the Hopewell Blue Devils, falling 71-23. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-23 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Prince George saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sophia Dibler dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Dibler a new career-high in points.

Leading Hopewell to victory were Erin Edmonds HV17 and April Winfield. Edmonds HV17 went 11-for-27 to rack up 27 points in addition to eight steals and six assists, while Winfield posted 18 points and seven steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Edmonds HV17 has scored at least a third of Hopewell's points. Another player making a difference was Keeniya Kelly, who had four points and eight steals.

Prince George's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Hopewell, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Prince George does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hopewell, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 76-30 win against New Kent on the 25th.
