Baseball Recap: Manheim Township Comes Up Short

Manheim Township and Hempfield squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Manheim Township had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Black Knights by a score of 4-2. The Blue Streaks haven't had much luck with the Black Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Manheim Township got a good showing from Nolan Peters, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Peters has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Manheim Township saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braden Leed, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was Leed's first of the season.

Manheim Township's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Hempfield, they pushed their record up to 22-0 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Manheim Township does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hempfield, they will face off against Cedar Cliff at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Black Knights 3, the Colts 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
