Basketball Game Preview: Bloomingdale Blazers vs. Morgantown Christian Academy Mustangs

After both having extra time off, the Bloomingdale Blazers and the Morgantown Christian Academy Mustangs will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

With Bloomingdale's effective field goal percentage at 65% and Parkersburg Christian's at 34% last Saturday, the final result was to be expected last Saturday. Bloomingdale came up short against Parkersburg Christian, falling 63-43. The Blazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caleb McClung, who posted six points along with ten boards and four steals. That's the most boards he has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Schiedler, who had four points and three blocks.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morgantown Christian Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped last Saturday as they easily beat Ohio Valley Christian 82-33. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 31 points or more this season.

Bloomingdale better keep an eye on Cole Mathess. He was instrumental in Morgantown Christian Academy's win, going 12 of 16 on his way to 26 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Mathess has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Lemley, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Morgantown Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bloomingdale's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Morgantown Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Thursday's match is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Bloomingdale has been crazy accurate this season, having made 87.8% of their field goals per game. However, it's not like Morgantown Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've made 48.3% of their field goals this season.
