Volleyball Recap: Madie Robinette's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Calvary Christian Academy over GVCS Broadfording

Calvary Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the GVCS Broadfording Lions. While Calvary Christian Academy didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating GVCS Broadfording 25-21 in the first set.

Calvary Christian Academy took GVCS Broadfording into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 11-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-12, 25-12, 21-25, 15-4.

Several Calvary Christian Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madie Robinette, who had 36 digs, eight kills, six aces, and one block. Robinette is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia McCumber, who had 28 digs and six kills.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13-1. As for GVCS Broadfording, they moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Calvary Christian Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Grace Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, GVCS Broadfording will face off against rival New Life Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
