Soccer Game Preview: Excelsior Classical Academy vs. Vance Charter

Excelsior Classical Academy hasn't had much luck against Vance Charter recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Flying Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Excelsior Classical Academy turned things around against Cristo Rey Research Triangle on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulls a 2-0 shutout. Haley Carroll had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Excelsior Classical Academy.

Meanwhile, Vance Charter got the win against South Granville on Friday by a conclusive 6-0. The result was nothing new for Vance Charter, who have now won seven matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Vance Charter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That lines up perfectly with their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. As for Excelsior Classical Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

Excelsior Classical Academy might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Vance Charter in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Flying Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
