Basketball Recap: Linn County Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Linn County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They took down the Grundy County/Newtown-Harris Panthers 59-43. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 46-42 back in November of 2025.

Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Tovrea, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 12 points. Andrew Fordyce was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Linn County's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Coming up, Linn County will face off against Southwest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, they will square off against Gilman City/North Daviess at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
