Football Recap: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Warren Township Blue Devils
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Barrington can now relate to. They took a 35-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warren Township Blue Devils on Friday. The Fillies/Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Despite the loss, Barrington still got an impressive performance from Lamar Osterhues, who rushed for 174 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries. Osterhues' longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Barrington also got a significant boost from Calvin Jackson, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 91 yards.
Even though they lost, Barrington was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Aaron Stewart continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Warren Township, rushing for 373 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Stewart's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 113 rushing yards.
Barrington dropped their record down to 8-3 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Warren Township, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Barrington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Warren Township, they will take on York at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. York knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Warren Township likes a good challenge.
