Baseball Recap: Pine Ridge Triumphs

While Pine Ridge's victory against Mount Dora wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers skirted past the Hurricanes 7-6. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won three in a row.

Cameron Schweit made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Nathan Murrah was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Romeo Vargas also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

The victory got Pine Ridge back to even at 2-2. As for Mount Dora, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Ridge will head out to challenge Umatilla at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mount Dora, they will venture away from home to take on South Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
