Softball Recap: Cumberland Colts vs. Washington Township Minutemen
Cumberland had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-10 to make it four. They lost 15-8 to the Washington Township Minutemen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 16-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
As for Washington Township, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the match before.
For Washington Township's part, Angelina Laspata looked comfortable as she tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Katie Fuller was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Irrgang, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland will head out to face off against Delsea at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something the Colts surely won't give up without a fight. As for Washington Township, they will take on Kingsway at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
