Baseball Game Preview: Emmaus Hornets vs. Stroudsburg Mountaineers

The Emmaus Hornets will face off against the Stroudsburg Mountaineers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Saturday, Emmaus didn't have quite enough to beat Wilson and fell 6-5.

Ryan Hummell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aaron Fleetwood was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Josh Diaz, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Stroudsburg came up short against Whitehall on Friday and fell 11-8.

Ryan Pacitti made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Powanda, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Emmaus' defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Stroudsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Emmaus took their victory against Stroudsburg in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountaineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
