Cobden extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They lost 11-1 to the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals. The Appleknockers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Cobden saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Clover, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Clover also scored a run, marking his first of the season.
As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-6. Considering they have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Norris City-Omaha-Enfield's side, Liam Drone and Aven Scala made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Drone tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Meanwhile, Scala pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Drone has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Drone went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Scala went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Javan Garrett was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. Cooper Fuqua was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Cobden has already played their next contest (against Leopold), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-5 loss against Gallatin County on the 16th.
