Baseball Game Preview: Menlo-Atherton Bears vs. Live Oak Acorns

The Menlo-Atherton Bears will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Live Oak Acorns at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Menlo-Atherton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Menlo-Atherton earned a 5-2 victory over Archbishop Riordan.

Tyler Rosenthal looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Masataka Shudo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Ryder Kelly was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Live Oak came up short against Monte Vista Christian on Thursday, falling 9-1.

Menlo-Atherton's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Live Oak, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Menlo-Atherton was able to grind out a solid victory over Live Oak in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 9-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Menlo-Atherton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
