Baseball Recap: Socorro Takes a Loss

Socorro extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the Hatch Valley Bears. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 13-2 to the Bears when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Socorro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Mercado, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Cullen Baxter, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Hatch Valley, they moved to 6-11 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

On Hatch Valley's side, ALAN RUIZ spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits. The Bears are 3-1 when RUIZ allows two or fewer earned runs, but 3-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, RAY RUIZ was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. MIGUEL MARQUEZ was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Socorro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
