Clinton Prairie is a perfect 3-0 against Bethesda Christian since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Gophers will square off against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Clinton Prairie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Clinton Prairie is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Hamilton Heights on Monday. They lost 12-2 to the Huskies. The defeat continues a trend for the Gophers in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.
Clinton Prairie saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Harshbarger, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Bethesda Christian made easy work of Beech Grove on Thursday and carried off a 13-4 win. Considering the Patriots have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Benaiah Campbell and Blake Lagle did most of the damage at the plate: Campbell got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Lagle got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Campbell has posted since back in May of 2024.
Bethesda Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Bethesda Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Clinton Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Both Clinton Prairie and Bethesda Christian just can't seem to miss. The Gophers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Bethesda Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clinton Prairie took their win against Bethesda Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 18-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gophers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
