Baseball Recap: Webb Comes Up Short

Webb extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-10. They came up short against the Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 back in March.

Alec Kaushal was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Andres Caballero was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

As for Capistrano Valley Christian, their record now sits at 10-13. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17th (when they won 19-1).

On Capistrano Valley Christian's side, they gave Luke Leisegang the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Basso, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Capistrano Valley Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 8-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic French, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Capistrano Valley Christian beat Webb by a score of 20-8 on Friday.
