Basketball Recap: Cimarron Takes a Loss

Cimarron had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 13-12 to make it four. They were dealt a 54-19 loss at the hands of the Roy/Mosquero Blue/Lady Blue. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Blue/Lady Blue are ranked 26th).

As for Roy/Mosquero, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 22-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.4 points on average over those games.

Dylan Clavel had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Tayla Proffitt, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Coming up, Cimarron will host Maxwell at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.17 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Roy/Mosquero does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
