Volleyball Recap: Sierra Vista Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Arbor View

On Tuesday, Sierra Vista faced Arbor View in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Sierra Vista Mountain Lions fell just short of the Arbor View Aggies by a score of 3-2. The Mountain Lions haven't had much luck with the Aggies recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Sierra Vista was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Arbor View work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-24, 23-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-6.

Regi Beshiri paced Sierra Vista's offense, picking up 17 kills. Beshiri got some help from Zaihen Arenas-Bailey and his 21 assists. Percy Morris and Jeremiah James kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Arbor View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Hashimoto, who had ten digs and two aces. Those two aces gave Hashimoto a new career-high. Eric Veith was another key player, getting four aces and three digs.

Sierra Vista's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Arbor View, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Sierra Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Coronado on the 6th. As for Arbor View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Somerset Sky Pointe on the 6th.
