Soccer Game Preview: River Valley vs. Roseville

River Valley is 2-7 against Roseville since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The River Valley Falcons will challenge the Roseville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

River Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Vanden by a score of 3-1. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 195th, while the Vikings are ranked 469th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

River Valley hit Vanden with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Miguel Ortiz, Benjamin Barriga, and Alex Navarette.

Meanwhile, Roseville hasn't lost a match since December 17, 2024, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. They never let Mira Loma onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won six games by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Roseville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up five goals over those 14 contests. As for River Valley, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

River Valley came up short against Roseville in their previous matchup back in January, falling 2-0. Can River Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
