Basketball Recap: Cypress Bay Takes a Loss

If Cypress Bay was riding high fresh off their 55-21 takedown of West Broward last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cypress Bay Lightning were dealt a 59-20 defeat at the hands of the Blanche Ely Tigers on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Lightning in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the defeat, Cypress Bay saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tessa Fairley posted seven points. That's the most points Fairley has posted since back in December of 2024.

Cypress Bay's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Blanche Ely, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

Cypress Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Blanche Ely, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Thomas Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Blanche Ely knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully St. Thomas Aquinas likes a good challenge.
