Basketball Recap: North Pitt Comes Up Short

If North Pitt was feeling good fresh off their 50-23 takedown of Ayden - Grifton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The North Pitt Panthers took a hard 41-26 fall against the Perquimans Pirates on Wednesday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why North Pitt lost, don't look at Zihanna Lightfoot. Despite the final result, she posted six points and 15 boards. Lightfoot is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last ten games she's played.

North Pitt's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Perquimans, their win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2.

North Pitt will welcome Washington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Pitt is facing Washington at the right time seeing as Washington is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Perquimans, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tarboro at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Perquimans' defense has only allowed 27.1 points per game this season, so Tarboro's offense will have their work cut out for them.
