Baseball Recap: Estancia Comes Up Short

After flying high against Melrose on Friday, Estancia came back down to earth. The Bears fell just short of the Santa Rosa Lions by a score of 11-9 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

Estancia got a big performance out of Juan Cuevas, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Cuevas is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Skyler Sandy was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.

Estancia now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Santa Rosa, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Estancia has already played their next game, a 17-7 win against Tucumcari on the 31st. As for Santa Rosa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-8 victory against Raton on the 31st.
