Preview: Orland Trojans vs. Las Plumas Thunderbirds
The Orland Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Las Plumas Thunderbirds at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Orland has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 426 points over their last seven matchups.
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Orland's strategy against Paradise on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Orland blew Paradise out of the water with a 63-6 final score. Fans of Orland have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Orland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zane Frailey, who rushed for 224 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries. Frailey's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Another player making a difference was Luke Schager, who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, Las Plumas was just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to Corning. Las Plumas has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Orland's win lifted them to 7-0 while Las Plumas' defeat dropped them down to 5-2.
