Volleyball Recap: Southland Takes a Loss

After flying high against Blooming Prairie on Monday, Southland came back down to earth. The Rebels fell 3-1 to the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics on Tuesday. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Athletics earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

While Southland ultimately came up short, they really made Lyle/Pacelli work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 25-23, 27-25, 17-25, 25-21.

Lyle/Pacelli found their leader in sophomore Carleigh Rymer, who had 15 digs and five aces. Rymer has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.

Southland's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Lyle/Pacelli, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southland will host Grand Meadow at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lyle/Pacelli, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Kingsland at 7:00 p.m. The Athletics are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
