Softball Game Preview: Skyline Grizzlies vs. Hillcrest Knights

For the second straight game, Skyline will face off against Hillcrest. The Grizzlies will venture away from home to square off against the Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Skyline fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hillcrest on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 9-8. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Maggie Young spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brylee Scott was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Calla Jensen, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 10-6-1. As for Hillcrest, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
