Baseball Game Preview: River Ridge Hawks vs. North Thurston Rams

For the second straight game, River Ridge will face off against North Thurston. The Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. River Ridge has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

River Ridge fell victim to North Thurston and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Rams.

For North Thurston's part, David Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Perez a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, North Thurston got a massive performance out of Tucker Kemph, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave Kemph a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kole French, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

North Thurston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory (which was North Thurston's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for River Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
