Football Recap: Union Skates Past Ben Lomond with Ease

While Union put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Ben Lomond. The Cougars blew past the Scots 50-0. That looming 50-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Union's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gannon Labrum led the charge by throwing for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Labrum has posted since back in August.

Union was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 328 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Boston Horrocks and Labrum. Labrum's passing game has become a key predictor of Union's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-5 otherwise. The Cougars got some further help from Rhyker Oakden: he picked up two sacks and made five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

The victory snapped Union's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record. As for Ben Lomond, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
