Soccer Recap: Palmetto Ridge Comes Up Short

Palmetto Ridge and Gateway squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Palmetto Ridge had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Gateway Eagles by a score of 4-3. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Jonathan Tamayo and Salma Mehdi scored all three of Palmetto Ridge's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 19 goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Palmetto Ridge and nudges their season record down to 7-11-5. As for Gateway, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6-3.

Palmetto Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gateway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next match, a 1-1 defeat against Immokalee on the 28th.
