Basketball Recap: Denby Comes Up Short

Denby entered their match against Pershing on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Denby Tars took a blow against the Pershing Doughboys, falling 63-18. While losing is never fun, the Tars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Doughboys are ranked 157th).

Denby's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5. As for Pershing, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denby and Northwestern will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Pershing, they will take on River Rouge at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pershing's defense has only allowed 17.9 points per game this season, so River Rouge's offense will have their work cut out for them.
