Softball Recap: Youngker Roughriders vs. Ironwood Eagles

Youngker was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 20-8 to the Ironwood Eagles. If the Roughriders were looking for revenge after losing 16-6 to the Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Gennessis Haggard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Samantha Salgado Beltran, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Youngker's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Ironwood, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-5.

Coming up, Youngker will head out on the road to face off against La Joya Community at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Youngker has given up an average of 19.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Ironwood, they will be taking part in a tournament against Tolleson at 2:00 p.m. on March 14th.
