League recap: Washington climbs in state rankings with win

Northern Indiana recap Oct. 30, 2012

Washington moved up to 105 from 131 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Northern Indiana. The Panthers were able to make move up by topping New Prairie 36-14.

Mishawaka extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Hobart, 49-28. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Elkhart Central's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Blazers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Nick Faus has thrown for 2580 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, while Spencer Schnell has 86 catches for 1226 yards. Akheem Purnell leads the league in rushing with 831 yards.

A big matchup in Northern Indiana this week will be when St. Joseph takes on Marian. As it stands, the Indians are in fourth, while the Knights are in fifth.

St. Joseph took down Calumet 35-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
