Softball Recap: Forest Hills Extends Home Winning Streak to 18

Forest Hills waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They never let the Penn Cambria Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rangers, who have now won nine matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Avery Smiach made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Ana Spangler was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aivah Maul, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Forest Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Forest Hills' win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Penn Cambria, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

Coming up, Forest Hills will venture away from home to square off against Meyersdale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Penn Cambria does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
